Progressive Rock BR
RECOMMENDS
DREAMGRAVE
"Presentiment"

After the unexpected success of the Deadborn Dreams demo the band had troubles finding stable, lasting members. While the search has taken up several years, founder and band leader Dömötör Gyimesi worked on his ideas which eventually became the foundation for the Presentiment LP. In September 2012 he met János Mayer which has not only shifted the songs towards a more progressive approach but became the turning point in the band's history. In September 2013 the band started recording the demos with the beautiful soprano of Mária Molnár. After a lot of hard work and with the help of Gergo Drahota and Jeno Godó the band finally went into the studio to record the Presentiment LP, a concept album consisting of eight progressive dark metal movements.
M-OPUS
"1975 Triptych"

M-Opus are a 4-piece Irish Progressive Rock Band from Dublin - Ireland's keepers of the original prog rock flame. M-Opus are also a fictional band with a long, made-up history that stretches from 1970 to today. They have a discography of albums from that time, but you haven't heard them yet. In fact, nobody has. Their first album to come to light is 1975 TRIPTYCH from 1975. One afternoon in 2009, I made a decision. Having composed and written songs in all sorts of commercial styles for years, I paused and asked myself, what is it that I REALLY want to do. Forget about the practical, the sensible, the marketplace - what sort of music would I write, for the love of writing. After 1000s of gigs as players, Jonathan and Colin set-up M-Opus, a platform to perform and write original music in their favourite style, symphonic rock of the 70s. Additional band members came and went, but recently M-Opus locked in with the addition of Darragh Dennis (bass) and Mark Grist (drums).
LABIRINTO
"Anatema"

With their experimental sound, teeming with textures, the instrumental sextet owes nothing to the avant-garde artists that are usually seen abroad, such as I Like Trains, Nadja and Stephen O'Malley - who they played with at the Dunk!festival, in Belgium, the biggest post-rock event in the world - and not even to Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Isis, two of the main references of the group. Labirinto's live performance are truly magnificent, with systematically compiled images being projected, increasing even more the climatic character of their image invoking and aesthetically pleasing songs, put in sequences like a soundtrack. On stage, the band has six musicians: Erick Cruxen, Felipe Luis Freitas and Naressi on guitars and synthesizers; Muriel Curi on drums; Ricardo Pereira on bass and guests performing the percussion parts.
PARZIVAL'S EYE
"Defragments"

Parzivals Eye is a kind of musical project which deserves a special attention. Chris Postl know exactly what all people want to hear and, what the best way to choose combinations of musical genres that best fit on the band, I think that, the main goal was the choice of the musicians, a perfect union, a successful formula,  adding perfect doses, especially in the arrangements and vocals, with a high-quality instrumental on the compositions, combining several musical genres from the past and  today, while keeping an intensity musical level, taking the listener to a magical trip, where we can hear a variety of styles such as Neo-Progressive, Art Rock, stunning Melodic, Symphonic and Progressive Rock music, full of gorgeous and sophisticated arrangements.
RENAISSANCE
"Academy Of Music 1974"

Another treasure from the Renaissance vaults, this double CD contains an extended live performance from the historic Academy Of Music hall in New York in 1974. The performance covers most of the band's extraordinary fifth studio release Turn Of The Cards, in addition to highlights from Ashes Are Burning.
MAÏAK
"A Very Pleasant Way To Die"

Maïak creates one of key post-rock releases of 2015. They created to something big, something to be heard! Created in 2010 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Maïak is composed of four musicians influenced by the lyricism and wide dynamics of post-rock soundscapes and fearless to experiment sudden shifts of atmospheres. The group was named after Maïak, a nuclear plant in the Soviet Union, where one of the worst nuclear disasters of all times took place and despite its dramatic consequences, stayed hidden for decades. Filled with the symbolic weight of a catastrophe that arose as the punishment of man's guilty arrogance in an outburst remained silent, Maïak delivers a dark and powerful instrumental rock that evolves between tenuous melancholy and chaotic blast. Recorded with a certain sense of urgency (three days session for forty two minutes of pure post-rock music), "a very pleasant way to die" wanders through the different colours of the band's aural palette. The album seethes with raw energy.
CAP
(CONSORZIO ACQUA POTABILE)
"Il Teatro Delle Ombre" - On vinyl

An enchanting 40 - year - long journey through the music and life of a group of youthful Italian "Prog - Rockers". The roaring beginnings of a wonderful musical season, their first concerts, Rimini 1973 and their long journey, whilst far from great floodlit stages, but always as protagonists, proudly threading their way out of the backlight and into the limelight, into a fascinating and multifaceted musical movement. A special on their Rock Opera, "Gerbrand". Their first international acknowledgements, their friendships with acclaimed peers from the Prog universe. Their concerts, the participation at illustrious events, anniversaries, dinners and after-dinner events, the gossip and the merrymaking sessions.
CICCADA
"The finest of miracles"

Ciccada is a progressive rock band from Athens, Greece. It was formed in April 2005 by flutist Nicolas Nikolopoulos (who plays also the keyboards) and fellow guitar player George Mouchos. Very soon after, singer Evangelia Kozoni joined the duo and this is the core of the band until today. The first line-up also included a bass and a cello players and had one first gig in ARTIKA theater, while the brief second (which lasted only one month and played twice under weird conditions!!) saw the addition of a clarinet and a trumpet players as well of a male singer. In July 2009 Ciccada, with the addition of Omiros Komninos on bass, enter the studio to start recording.
VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR
"Merlin Atmos"

Esoteric Antenna, are pleased to announce the release of the marvellous new live album by Van Der Graaf Generator, "Merlin Atmos" on February 2, 2015. Recorded in 2013, the limited edition 2CD Digipack features the first ever full live performance of "Flight" and "a Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers" In June 2013, Peter Hammill, Hugh Banton and Guy Evans took to the road in Europe to present a series of live concerts that featured a set list that excited devotees of Van Der Graaf Generator like no other for many years. The band had decided the time was right to present their epic classic piece "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" in its entirety on stage for the first time, along with Peter Hammill's equally epic "Flight". As the centerpieces of the band's live set, a series of wonderful concerts took place, drawing on the classic material from the band's past, as well as their more recent albums such as "A Grounding in Numbers".
RIDERS OF THE UNIVERSE
"Amen Road"

The Dutch band Riders of the Universe is inspired by the words of Lao Tse. A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. Riders of the Universe searches all corners of the universe. Sometimes as a rocket, other times as an airship. Riders of the Universe sounds like an alternative guitar band that proudly shows its roots lies in the classical -, brass band -, church -, blues - and rock music. Additional to the classic combination of rock guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and vocals, the band adds accents with tuba, flugelhorn, bouzouki and vocal harmonies.
WHALE FALL
"The Madrean"

Whale Fall is an instrumental rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2008, the five member group, whose name derives from the biologic process by which a decaying whale carcass spawns a new sea life community, quickly established a dedicated fan base who embraced the band's dynamic live sound, leading to the recording of their eponymous debut album, a vinyl double LP self-released in 2011. In addition to live performances, recordings, and an expanding online presence, the group's music is reaching new audiences with the inclusion of two Whale Fall tracks in the award-winning documentary Code Black, currently in wide release. This cinematic foray complements the numerous soundtrack credits attributable to the fivesome's past projects, including The X-Files, Kiss of Death (1995), Up in the Air (2009), promotional trailers for The Help (2011), and several independent films. On this, Whale Fall's sophomore offering, the band's live ensemble of traditional rock instrumentation augmented by trumpet and piano is further expanded with the addition of saxophone and cello.
LIGHT DAMAGE
"Light Damage"

Light Damage was formed in September 2005 with the meeting of Seb (drums) and Steph (guitars) at the Spirit of 66' (Verviers-Belgium) Prog-Resiste annual con-vention. They quickly put in contact with Nicholas-John (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Fraydd (bass), and began to play covers of Genesis and Pink Floyd, among others. The first keyboard player is a friend of Steph: Chavy. After a few months, LD made his beginning with some concerts and festivals, mixing personal composi-tions and covers. In April 2008, the band gains many fans thanks to the Festival Tribute Arlon, where they have participated as a Pink Floyd tribute band called "Brain Damage". Chavy, involved in many musical projects decides to leave the band and is replaced by Chris. At this time the group is focusing on new composi-tions. Between January and March 2009, the band records a five tracks self-producted demo called "Acronym". The music of Light Damage is closer to progres-sive rock than any other, but withdraws from the 70's prog.
ANTHROPIA
"Non-Euclidean Spaces"

Founded in 2003 by Hugues Lefebvre (vocals, acoustic and electric guitars), Anthropia first records a 5 songs demo before becoming a solo project in 2004. The band's style can be described as power prog' metal, inspired by bands like Symphony X, Megadeth, Pain Of Salvation, Ayreon, Dream Theater, etc. The project ultimately takes shape in 2006 with its first album, out on the reknown american label Magna Carta: "The Ereyn Chronicles, Part 1". In 2009, the band releases its second album: "The Chain Reaction", mixed by François Merle, guitar player from Manigance, and mastered by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty Maids, ...). Kevin Codfert from Adagio is also appearing as a guest.
LA COSCIENZA DI ZENO
"La Notte Anche Di Giorno"

La Coscienza di Zeno (CDZ) is a progressive band from Genoa born in October 2007. First the band is composed by Gabriele "Estunno" Guidi Colombi on bass (Trama, Narrow Pass, Armalite, Il Tempio delle clessidre, Hidebehind), Andrea Orlando on drums (Finisterre, Malombra, Real Dream), Matteo Malvezzi on guitar and Alessio Calandriello in the role of vocalist (Narrow Pass, Hidebehind, Klepsydra, Lucid Dream). In July 2008 Stefano Agnini enters the band to concentrate on keyboards and lyrics, replacing outgoing guitarist. With this line-up a first song is recorded: Parergon, that will be added to a Mellow Records collection dedicated to new progressive bands of the Italian scene, never published. In September 2008, while searching for a musician close to the CDZ's style, the guitarist David Serpico enters the band.
SYZYGY
"Cosmos and Chaos"

Syzygy emerging from the fire, smoke, beauty and charm of industrious Northern Ohio (USA), this   progressive rock quartet offers what would seem a contradiction of influences and eras, yet their amalgam reveals its own form. A "syzygy" is an alignment of three celestial bodies in a gravitational pull. In this case, these bodies are "Pitch, Pulse & Purpose". When the group composes and performs, this musical trinity is joined with precision and thrust into the space between the artists and the listener eventually gathering energy, harmonic momentum and ultimately reaching an elevated orbit to create an unforgettable musical experience. If "Prog Rock" is believed to be a boundary-moving musical style, then these gentlemen intend on lighting the fuse of the next "Prog" Big Bang! The massive expansion of their compositions into the vacuum of the aural cosmos gives rise to new celestial forms and truly defines the meaning of "progressive" art. Constantly working towards the goal of creating a collection of imperishable musical masterpieces, Syzygy is currently in the final writing stages of what will prove to be the band's most thoughtful and challenging work to date. The new compositions explore a plethora of points along the musical spectrum, with an air of Romantic Period inflections as well as face-melting, gut-punching power strokes of contemporary culture.
MARCO RAGNI
"Mother from the sun"

Marco Ragni's musical history dates back to 1975, when, at the age of 6, he discovers his passion for music by asking for a Farfisa keyboard as present. The love of singing comes only later, fascinated by the vocal harmonies of the Fab Four, the legendary Beatles. At the age of 17, attracted by the California hippie scene of the late sixties, he recorded his first tracks of psychedelic music, and his early records, including "Kaleido"(1987) and "Illumination"(1988). In 1990 he joined the band Deshuesada, which will deeply mark his artistic evolution, leading to the recording of 2 albums of psychedelic pop and to several gigs in Italy from 1992 to 1998. After a couple of years as a soloist, albeit without significant productions, in 2000 he was approached by a rock band, the Quartafila, which later changed its name to Heza.
STATE URGE
"Confrontation"

State Urge is a band hailing from Gdynia, Poland, consisting of four musicians whose shared passion for creating unique music that is hard to classify. They're performing white rock - an original genre. On one side it has roots deep in a classic rock sound, on the other hand it's unpretentious, fresh and most importantly emotionally honest. On March 2nd of 2014 State Urge returned with next release of Before The Dawn single, with it's premiere and tied-in live concert held on the radio waves of Polish Radio Gdansk. Included on the CD was a live recording of a cover of legendary Polish band Republika, Halucynacje.
GRAND TOUR
"Heavy on the Beach"

2005 was the year it all started having played keyboards with Glasgow's Abel Ganz since 1982, Hew had begun to feel theneed to take more direct control of his own material as the Ganz machine moved off in a slightly different musical direction from his. Grand Tour was born from a long held fascination with the cold war years and the nuclear stand-off between the super powers the film "On the Beach" was a huge influence to the music as well, and many of the musical ideas flowed from the visual imagery of the movie. With a complet line-up has now recorded their first Grand Tour album, "Heavy on the Beach", and this will be released on the 2nd of February 2015. Please keep checking here for up-to-date info!
MARGIN
"Psychedelic Teatime"

Margin was founded in 2012 as studio project by Lutz Meinert. He played as singer, keyboarder and drummer in few Berlin progressive rock bands from 1979 till 2002. So he published with For Your Pleausure two CDs, Scattered Pages (1993) and Timeless (2000), released by Madvedge Records. Indeed in this project the musical past of Lutz Meinert often shines through. But here the psychedelic prog is the focus, the melting of psychedelic art rock with progressive rock - both in the style at the end of the sixties till the middle of the seventies. Not least the brilliant amd modern production defines a fascinating, timeless sound which merges present and past in its own special way. As a result of a extensive studio work where the titles were developed and recorded the debut album Psychedelic Teatime which released on June 30, 2014 by Madvedge Records. Here Lutz Meinert was supportet by Arne Spekat (acoustic guitar), who also played in "For Your Pleasure" and Carola Meinert (vocals).
CHAMELEON
"Rising"

The band Chameleon Rising (formerly Chameleon) was a Prog band in the Houston area back in the mid to late 1970's. The band has not played together in more than 30 years, but is currently working on a new album for ShroomAngel Records. Their music turn around early Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Nektar, Kamelot, Nightwish. Recorded between 1973 and 1978, "Rising" represents the entire recorded output of American progressive band Chameleon. Heavily influenced by King Crimson, Genesis and Yes you can only feel for a band who cut their teeth opening for bands like MC5 and Amboy Dukes (Ted Nugent), when their own musical influences were an ocean away. Active between 1972 and 1981, Chameleon were far from prolific in the studio, but what is presented here is a band who deserved to achieve far more than they did if only their music could have reached a wide enough audience.
KARNATAKA
"Secrets of Angels"

Ian and Enrico were keen to attract new members from diverse musical backgrounds. In 2011, after auditioning a number of singers, Hayley Griffiths was announced as the new lead vocalist. Hayley was already enjoying a very successful solo career and had recently been part of the Irish phenomenon, "Riverdance". She had won the part after being flown to Dublin to audition for the Executive Producer of the show.  Just two days later she began a tour that over the next few years would take her extensively across Europe, North America, Russia, Japan and China singing to a crowd of thousands every night. In 2005 and hand picked by Michael Flatley himself, Hayley won the role of Erin the Goddess in "Lord of the Dance". The resulting tour would take her to nearly every state in North America as well as extensive sold out tours of Canada, Mexico, and Europe. A one off performance of Michael Flatley's "Feet of Flames" in January 2008 would mark a high point in Hayley's career, thus far, with her voice being heard by 20,000 people at the Taipei Arena, in Taiwan. Hayley has enjoyed a hugely successful solo career, releasing her debut album Silver Screen to critical acclaim in 2010. The album was produced by Grammy Nominated producer Jared Hancock. Silver Screen won the prestigious Classical Crossover Album Of The Year Award 2010.
RAMSES
"Firewall"

Four of the most sucsessfull Rock Groups of Germany come from Hannover, Eloy, Jane, Scorpions and "Ramses". It was been proven that, at the time, the guitar metropolis was also able to produce talents, what before was only found in Hamburg, Munich and Berlin. The quintet "Ramses" was the youngest of these groups. Although "Ramses" was formed in the winter of 1972. The band's name had been created by the former first guitar player who used to love old egypt culture, one of it's kings being Ramses II. In the first two years the band underwent some changes. The final formation was only reached in the begining of 1974, after the testing of several drummers, in personal before the First LP "La Leyla" and second "Eternit Rise" - team had established. From the local status to the national sucsess "Ramses" started with a double jump in a beginners contest for the magazine "Riebes Fachblatt", in the "Factory of Hamburg", the group finished 6th between 67 other groups.
