Progressive Rock BR
RECOMMENDS
BAROCK PROJECT
"Detachment"

On 20 March 2017, Barock Project will release their sixth album, a CD entitled DETACHMENT. The fifth studio album for the Italian band, opening their second decade of history in a steady rise into the prog symphonic rock world. Following the 3 reprints of Skyline (2015) and the double live CD Vivo (2016) acclaimed by international press and sales in 40 countries, the band delivers a brand new set of music after a full year of studio sessions started as soon as former vocalist Pancaldi left Barocks. Thirteen tracks that take the listener on a magical musical tour around rock, symphonic, jazz, folk, metal, electronic and even distant hints of oriental and flamenco, led by the versatile instrumentalist Luca Zabbini, this time also lead vocalist and unstoppable composing soul of Barock Project. Detachment is an album far more straight and essential than previous, less muscle and more substantial elegance, a choice made for a communicative reason that is perhaps more directed to the band itself.
NEUSCHWANSTEIN
"Fine Art"

Neuschwanstein is a German prog from the late seventies. Instrumentally, acoustic guitar, flute, harpsichord and a variety of keyboards lock together to make an extremely rich and beautiful musical backdrop, with some absolutely gorgeous themes. The music is melodic with detailed arrangements and interesting orchestration.
EKOS
"Otra Dimensión"

Ekos is a new coming group from Mexico, a new name that emerge among the actual Progressive Rock scenary today. I consider Ekos a brilliant band, that is not afraid of evolving by incorporating new trends into their music, but with strong references from the past, around many progressive rock bands from years 70. They started their career, as a band playing Pink Floyd's songs, but as soon as some cover bands, they join forces to give birth to a stunning musical project. Ekos is a proposal for each of the performers and the sum of them in a loud musical journey of no limitation and total and absolute freedom of its members. Live, "Luz Interna" becomes a ritual accompanied by audiovisual material that make the viewer's mind surf music, finding their own ways.
CELLAR NOISE
"Alight"

Cellar Noise are a very young progressive rock group from Milan that play completely original English-sung compositions, paying homage to the classic sound of the '70s and looking towards the future at the same time. "Alight", their full-length debut, given the young age of the musicians involved, impresses on the songwriting maturity level, both from the musical and the lyrical points of view. Nothing is left to chance, even from the band's name choice: "cellar noise" as a metaphor of a small shake that awakens from the slumber of everyday life; an epiphany that is one of the main themes of "Alight", a concept album constantly suspended between the real world and the protagonist's mind who, on an ordinary day like many others, immersed in the enormous labyrinth of the London Underground, finds the meaning of an existence that he thought to have completely lost in the monotony of the daily routine.
MODERN ROCK ENSEMBLE
"Touch the Mystery"

Vladimir Gorashchenko says: We would like to propose for your kind attention a Ukrainian progressive rock project "Modern ? Rock Ensemble", the album called "Touch the Mystery". "Modern-Rock Ensemble" is a musical project of Vladimir Gorashchenko ? a Ukrainian composer, poet, keyboard/guitar player and producer. Starting from being a devoted fan of 1970's art-rock Vladimir began composing his own music and step-by-step developed his own style. Musical style of the band is a fusion of art-rock, jazz-rock, cosmic rock, sympho and ethnic rock. Many talented Ukrainian rock and jazz musicians were involved in this project as well as a string quartet.
DAVID WALLIMANN
"Evolving Seeds Of Glory"

David Wallimann, a Franco-American instrumental guitar player. He is a session player, product demonstrator, guitar teacher and love making Youtube videos. This is where you can keep up to date with all my latest musical adventures. I will try to update this site as soon as I can. As always, thanks so much for your support. I could not do what I do without you!
ELOY
"The Vision, The Sword and the Pyre - Part I

Frank Bornemann says: "It is, of course, my long-announced rock opera on the theme Jeanned'Arc, and is by far the most expensive production, as well as the most ambitious work I've ever tackled, and now with the band in a special version for the first time. The release of Part 1 (the first episode with about 1 hour of music!) Is scheduled for March 2017. The extremely ime-consuming complete implementation of this complex project requires another 1-year further production time and forces us to release the work on two successive albums. The album is scheduled for release on March 24, 2017.
WITCHWOOD
"Handful of Stars"

Witchwood born from the ashes of the cult band Buttered Bacon Biscuits in 2014. BBB released "From The Solitary Woods" in 2010. The album has been very well reviewed by many Italian and international music magazines  and websites. BBB played many gigs around Italy, also supporting important bands like Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, Bud Spencer Blues Explosion, etc. They also recorded the cover "A National Acrobat" for the Black Sabbath tribute "Hands Of Doom" released by Mag Music Production in 2013. After the BBB split some members of the band (Ricky, Andy, Steve and Sam) along with the new bass player Luca Celotti decided to start a new project, Witchwood. Those musicians have been active for decades, with past recording experiences and collaborations  with artists such as Martin Grice (Delirium) and Nik Turner (Hawkwind). The album features ten tracks for 78 minutes and it is a long journey from 70's hard rock, to progressive, psych, southern rock and blues.
FLYING CIRCUS
"Starlight Clearing"

The band Flying Circus was founded in the winter 1989/1990 in Grevenbroich. The five musicians draw their influences from the spheres of both Hard Rock and Progressive Rock. Up until now, the band has released six CDs: First, the albums Seasons (1997), Out of the Waste Land (2000), Pomp (2004) and Forth (2010), the latter's release coinciding with the band's twentieth anniversary. To commemorate this fact, "Forth" was also released as a deluxe edition containing a bonus CD with 13 rerecordings of the band's earliest compositions which were hitherto unavailable.
PLURIMA MUNDI
"Percorsi"

Plurima Mundi is an italian progressive band born in 2004. Lead by Massimiliano Monopoli (composer, classical-trained violinist, music teacher), the sextet from Taranto plays an original kind of prog-rock: classical music, classic rock, fusion, music for cinema, world music, jazz and characteristic Italian and mediterranean melodies. Plurima Mundi had played with Richard Sinclair in 2005, then played in Estate alla Sapienza 2007 (a famous summer music festival in Rome), in 2009 MaraCash Records released "Atto I", a good debut-album featuring the legendary vocals of Lino Vairetti, leader of Osanna.
BARTOSZ OGRODOWICZ
"The Legend of the Lost Land"

Bartosz Ogrodowicz is a Polish composer and instrumentalist performing progressive/ symphonic/ power metal and film music. Bartosz Ogrodowicz - The Legend of the Lost Land (2017).
MAXOPHONE
"La Fabbrica Delle Nuvole"

Maxophone is a very important name within the vast world of Italian progressive rock. Like many other colleagues, they disbanded after only one self-titled LP, released in 1975; but thanks to that beautiful album, which at the time granted the band several live shows and even a few TV appearances, we can put Maxophone in the élite of the greatest Italian prog bands. After the recent comeback, we were still missing one piece: a new album consisting of original songs, which finally sees the light here, in "La fabbrica delle nuvole" (The clouds factory), proudly and exclusively released by AMS Records. "La fabbrica delle nuvole" therefore sounds like a collection of poems, set to music by an essential Italian prog group who, while having updated their sound to these actual times, are still surrounded by that "mystical" aura that already marked their first, unforgettable record.
KALIN TONEV
"Machine Years"

Previously known as the core of the prog rock project Travel House, Kalin Tonev (Sofia, Bulgaria) presents his first solo effort. Machine Years album comprises the whole gamut of prog territories and promises a worthy experience from a highly talented author, whose imagination easily crosses any prog rock border known. You must listen it, enjoy the usic of Kalin Tonev.
CITIZEN CAIN
"The Antechamber Of Being Part 2"

London, 1982; old friends Gordon Feenie (drums/flute/keys) and Cyrus bass/vocals) of Not Quite Red Fox formed Citizen Cain. Shortly after im Taylor joined on guitar. After several unsuccessful months looking or a keyboard player they decided to remain a three-piece. With the backing of KG Publications they gigged extensively and recorded several tracks in the studio, one of which appeared on the compilation album "Fire In Harmony". The few ideas that they had collected over the years quickly came together and a new album started to take form. Phil was once again recruited as guitarist and recording started in 2008. After 3 years in and out of the studio the new material was complete. Meanwhile F2Music had been in touch and had shown interest in re-releasing the band's entire back catalogue as well as the new album, once complete.
SETI
"Bold Travels"

The third SETI (Chile) studio album delivers powerful progressive rock going close to the atmospheric electronic music of the 70's plus some 90's prog-metal, and of course a great dose of symphonic progressive rock. guitarist Steve Rothery (Marillion), keyboardist Clive Nolan Pendragon/ Arena/ Caamora) and singer Damian Wilson (Ayreon/ Threshold/ Headspace) are the special guests in a lineup conformed by Claudio Momberg (Keyboards, guitars), Juan Ricardo Weiler (Drums), Jaime Scalpello (Vocals), José Luis Ramos (Bass), Gabriel Hidalgo (Guitars) and Paula Vilches (Vocals).
COALITION
"Bridge Across Time"

"Bridge Across time" was created as a concept album. Musically, the listener is treated to a lot. Several complex musical theme variations are shown here with another great performance of Colin Tench on his 6-strings, all of it in the purest Prog tradition. All the musical talents mentioned earlier get together giving us, as a final result, a pleasure to renew again and again.
LEAP DAY
"Live At The Northern Prog Festival"

With members of Flamborough Head, Nice Beaver and Trion they started out as The King Eider Live band in 2007 together with Waalkens/ Gerritse. After a very succesfull gig at the ProgFarm festival in 2007 Gerritse left the band and Eddie Mulder took his place. On the 29th of February 2008 they baptised themselves Leap Day and in the same year a record deal with OSKAR Records Poland was signed. They've released three albums: Awaking The Muse (2009) and Skylge's Lair (2011) and From The Days Of Deucalion, Chapter1 (2013).
MOTHER TURTLE
II

Mother Turtle is a Progressive Rock band from Thessaloniki, Greece. Formed in 2011 as a jam band, influenced by the great artists of the genre, they try to adapt the different elements of prog rock into their own music, taking advantage of the artistic freedom that prog rock provides. Enjoy the album and Praise The Mother Turtle!!!
CARPTREE
"Emerger"

Swedish Prog Ensemble Carptree Recording New Album "Emerger" To Be Released On Reingold Records! Sweden - Swedish prog ensemble Carptree will be releasing their new video titled "Fleeting Deep" in February. The track comes from their highly anticipated forthcoming album "Emerger" to be released on April 7th, 2017! Carptree is a Swedish progressive symphonic rock duo made featuring Carl Westholm (keyboards, composer, producer) and Nicklas Flinck (vocals, composer, lyrics). Although Carptree is a duo they are almost always accompanied by the No Future Orchestra (NFO); A group of people from known and unknown other Swedish acts, who add their personal touch, more or less frequent.
TREWA
"Beware the Selvadic"

Time and space are our concept sailing courses for finding ideas. Basing on traditional and characterised as folk-progressive, we found out we could meet also other influences. We feel free to look for many ways to communicate what happens in our life, as it is, either to initiate expressing in a precise way and change into something else or use other instruments and orchestration, according to the clearer inner landscapes.
THE ANCIENT VEIL
"I'm changing"

The return of the founders of Eris Pluvia with a new album full of many sounds, thanks to the contribution of different precious guests. The speech is resumed, although at a distance of several years, from "Rings of earthly light", even retracing the trail blazed by "The ancient veil". In the album there are many musicians who took part in the 1991 CD, guided work, composed and produced almost entirely by Serri and Romano. "I am changing" is therefore the natural sequel of those melodic and pastoral sounds. The songs are both instrumental and sung, and although the tracks are created to be independent, respect in quotes and arrangements the structure of Concept album.
COLLAPSE
"The Sleep In Me"

Collapse is a band from Grenoble, France who are playing instrumental progressive music. Influenced by the graphic film universe and bands like Porcupine Tree, Archive and Mogwaï.
SIMONE COZZETTO
"Wide Eyes"

Great debut album by roman guitar/keyboard player Simone Cozzetto. The atmosphere is very modern and melancholic. The writing of Cozzetto is first class and the overall project is very progressive. Francesco Marino is a great lead singer and the orchestral and choir arrangements are perfect. The song "The Diamond" feature also a great guitar solo by Kee Marcello (ex-Europe). If you like Avantasia, Ayreon, Time machine (great italian band of the nineties) it could be your CD, but "Wide eyes" it is much more prog and less metal. A labour of great class.
BADER NANA
"Battlefield 1"

A Kuwait-based Lebanese musician Bader NANA has started playing music since 18 years old. With experience in playing various instruments in some local bands, he's started on his feet with being influenced by lots of progressive metal or neo-progressive rock projects, his main influences are Transatlantic, John petrucci, Dream theater, Pink Floyd, symphony x, spock's beard, Neal morse, Russel allen, David gilmour, Paul gilbert, Marco sfogli, micheal romeo and Andy timmons.
ACQUA LIBERA

Acqua Libera is a quartet and musical project born in April 2013 with Fabio Bizzarri (guitar), Jonathan Caradonna (keyboards), Franco Caroni (bass), Marco Tosi (drums and percussion), with the aim of consolidating the intense Siena musical season from the 70s to the 90s. Acqua Libera is indeed vivid testimony and review of exciting instrumental progressive-fusion sounds that were in the seventies of Level 7 (both tracks resumed: "The Light of the Moon" and "Prog Mood"), and in the eighties of Juice Quartet ("Mr. Lou"), but at the same time renewed, brilliant energy and inspiration highlighted by five new compositions.
QANTUM
"Le Passage"

Released in 2009 on the Musea Records label, the first album from Qantum "Les Temps Oubliés" offers music based on the great French tradition of the Golden Age of the 70's. The lyrics, romantic and imaginary, are interpreted in a particularly expressive French language. Beautiful dialogues between guitars and keyboards form the framework of a music full of contrasts, rich of worked melodies and dreamy atmospheres. After several years of development marked by a slight change of workforce, Qantum is back with their new album, "Le Passage", now available!
UNIVERSAL TOTEM ORCHESTRA
"Mathematical Mother"

Universal Totem Orchestra (U.T.O.) was formed in 1998 by UTO G.Golin (drummer) and Dauno Giuseppe Buttiglione (bassist), two musicians who were already performing together in other BLACK WIDOW projects. The U.T.O., which was evolved from the L.M.R (Laboratorio Musicisti Riuniti) after five months, released its first album "Rituale Alieno" (Black Widow Records) in 1999. All tracks of the album were composed by Golin and Buttiglione.
t
"Epistrophobia"

t has always been making music. he has always been writing music, as well. given the opportunity to learn to play the piano from earliest childhood on, he decided to learn the guitar as well at the age of 12. because of the girls, of course. when a few friends of his, long-time guitar hero lothar hilgers (14), newly-designed singer peter niederpruem (15), bass-player-to-be stefan hilgers (14) and drummer stefan wagner (15) decided to line up as a band, t joined as keyboarder and rhythm guitarist. however, due to musical differences this line-up of "The Rubbish" was - though critically acclaimed as hell (by almost all the girls of the 9a AND 9b!) - only short-lived.

THIS WINTER MACHINE
"The Man Who Never Was"

A neo-progressive rock band based in Yorkshire, England. Taking their cues and influences from the pioneers of the genre in the 70s and 80s
they bring the sound right up to date combining soaring and emotive vocals, thought provoking lyrics, consummate and evocative musicianship and melodies that linger long after the music stops. Jevo learned to play guitar on old cardboard shoe boxes with elastic bands stretched over them. He got the idea from Blue Peter. One of his proudest achievements is writing the solo for After Tomorrow Comes on a box labelled "Beige Sandals. Size 9 (non leather)" which he still uses today for encores and photo shoots. He says "Yeah, guitars are ok but for that real tone it has to be a box that held a nice, sensible pair of loafers". Keep up to date on all the band news, gigs and releases by joining our mailing list.
INGRANAGGI DELLA VALLE
"Warm Spaced Blue"

The second album by the Italian progressive rock band features a slightly darker sound and there also are traces of jazz. BRIEG GUERVENO
"Valgori"

Brieg Guerveno is the project of one man, that of Brieg Guerveno, Breton author, composer and performer, with a passion for progressive music, the rock of the seventies, extreme music, and last but not least, his culture, his region and his second mother tongue: Breton.Brieg writes, composes and sings his texts in Breton, and this he does from the heart. Dark and melancholy, like the Breton gwerz, those poems carried by the oral tradition. Such tunes and texts have, across the centuries, built, layer by layer, the vast repertoire of traditional Breton songs. This is the project of one man, but also that of a trio. the Brieg Guerveno trio has performed a lot in their native region but also  beyond the borders in England and Japan.
