Progressive Rock BR
RECOMMENDS
DIALETO
"Live With David Cross"

Dialeto is an Art-Rock / Prog-Rock band from São Paulo, Brazil, currently composed by Nelson Coelho on guitar, Fred Barley on Drums and Gabriel Costa on bass. Formed in 1987 by Nelson, Miguel Angel on Drums and Andrei Ivanovic on fretless bass, the trio resumed activities in 2006 after a long hiatus with good reception, both in Brazil and abroad, of their first two albums, "Will Exist Forever" from 2008 and "Chromatic Freedom" from 2010. With a new line up since 2015, Gabriel Costa on Bass, Fred Barley on drums and Nelson Coelho on guitar, the band is now releasing "Bartók in Rock" a new studio album with Béla Bartók compositions adapted to rock.
IL SENTIERO DI TAUS
"Macrocosmosi"

Il Sentiero Di Taus come from Milan, Italy, formed as a quartet by Lucio Gennaro Zinzi - Vocals, Gesù - Bass, Claudio Goodson - Drums and Tiziano "Taccio" Taccini - Guitar. A mixture of rock, psychedelic, progressive and melody, with texts focusing on the mythological figure Melek Taus, Middle Eastern god of Kurdistan.
WALK THE RAIL
"Embroidery"

Walk the Rail, formed in 2013, is an emerging prog band from Santiago, Chile, influenced by artists of the prog rock and metal (both old and contemporary) and post-rock genre. Formed in 2013, the band just released their first album, Embroidery, which delivers a wide sonic spectrum of dark atmospheres, soft melodies, heavy riffs, long-duration songs, varied emotions and the musicalization of a larger concept. Their first song, Fatum, is a sample of this, since it contemplates melodic, dark, dramatic and emotional passages, and was the one used by the band to fundraise the album release through a successful crowdfunding campaign.
GOAD
"Landor"

Goad were first formed in the Florence area by the Rossi brothers, Gianni and Maurilio, in the late Seventies. At the end of 1983 they released the album "Creatures" for Northcott Production, a New York label that had already released in the USA their album of covers, "Who Can It Be". The album was issued by Emmegi (distributed by Polygram) in 1985. In spite of lack of support from the label, another album was completed. "Perfume" is a collection of pieces written and recorded from 1985 to 1988, which was never released.
BIKE
"Their Shamanic Majesties' Third Request"

Bike One of our Brazilian bands based in São Paulo, after their thunderous second album called "Em Busca da Viagem Eterna" released in 2017, Bike returns with a third work that will be published in Vinil-180gr, with only 200 copies. The band's new work is called "Their Shamanic Majesties' Third Request", the sound of Bike on this album, plunges into an exotic and gloomy universe - going beyond psychedelic guitars and traditional reverb vocals. At that moment, the psychedelic sound of the group is joined by the drumming, indigenous percussion and viola caipira, pointing to another serene and mature musical path.
WANDERING VAGRANT
"Get Lost"

Wandering Vagrant was born in 2015 from an idea of Alessandro Rizzuto with the intent to produce progressive rock music. After various changes of musicians, the line-up is completed with Christian Bastianoni at the guitars, Francesca Trampolini at the keyboards, Michele Carlini at the bass guitar and Marco Severi at the drums. The debut album of the band is going to be published soon in 2017.
ROAD TO JERUSALEM
"Road to Jerusalem"

Road to Jerusalem is an experimental rock band, that has a unique sound and appeal. Formed in early 2016, Road To Jerusalem (RTJ) is based in Copenhagen (Denmark), but its musicians are international. Josh Tyree (USA) Vocals, Michael Skovbakke (Denmark) on Guitars, Andreas Holma (Sweden) on Bass and Per Moller Jensen (Denmark) on Drums. Andreas Holma, ex Hypocrisy, also plays in Scar Symmetry and as session bass guitar in Soilwork. Per Moller Jensen has debuted with Invocator. Joined Konkhra in 1999. Then landed and sustained the rhythmics in The Haunted for most part of the band's existence.
SIGMA
"Singularity"

Sigma comes from São Paulo, a brazilian group of instrumental progressive rock, presents his second work entitled "Singularity". In the nine tracks on the album you can check the maturity of the band that features elaborate arrangements and compositions worked jointly by all its members. The major musical balance between all instruments defines the work, which translates into more space for guitar themes
and lines that, together with the creative drums pace, bass lines and arrangements of pianos and keyboards, forms a modern and integral sound, but without forgetting the influences of the best progressive rock. On the road for about 25 years, Sigma is today one of the most traditional Brazilian bands in the progressive scene.
PETER GEE
"The Bible"

"The Bible" is Peter Gee first full blown concept album and the most ambitious work that I have ever written, over a total of 69 minutes, and showcases the amazing vocal talents of Josh Brown, Becky Brannigan and Hayley Oliver, with regular Steve Christey (Jadis) on drums. The album also features the beautiful instrumental playing of Rhiannon Davies on violin and Daniel Bristow on trumpet. "The Bible" contains a stunning array of musical styles from the progressive "Revelation", "The Kingdom Of God" and "The Prophets" to rock anthems "The Fall" and "The Law", from the haunting female vocal pieces "Adam And Eve" and "The Gospel" to the acoustic "Samson And Delilah" and "Exodus", from instrumentals "Jacob?s Ladder" and "Walls Of Jericho", to the groove based "Crossing The Sea" and "Spirit", and yet the whole album has a wonderful power and unity to it.
GAZPACHO
"Soyuz"

The original core band of Jan-Henrik Ohme (vocals), Jon-Arne Vilbo (guitars) and Thomas Andersen (keyboards, programming, producer) started making music together in 1996 and the band has since expanded with Mikael Krømer (violin, co-producer), Lars Erik Asp (drums) and Kristian Torp (bass). Difficult to pigeon-hole, Gazpacho's music has been described by one critic as "classical post ambient nocturnal atmospheric neo-progressive folk world rock". The music has been compared to A-ha, Radiohead, Marillion, Sigur Rós and Porcupine Tree.
FRACTAL MIRROR
"Close To Vapour"

The origins of Fractal Mirror can be traced back to the mid-eighties when three friends from Amsterdam started to make music together influenced by bands from the famous 4AD label and artists like David Sylvian. At the same time a new wave of progressive rock was expanding its listening audience.  Bands like IQ, Pendragon, Twelfth Night, Marillion and Pallas but especially the virtually unknown Canadian band Terraced Garden have been a big influence on Fractal Mirror music.
OVERTURE
"Overture"

Overture is an Italian Progressive Rock Band based in Sardinia, Italy, formed around 2012. Composed by six musicians, the line-up are: Andrea Poddighe - Voce, Fiorella Piras - Flauto, voce, Samuele Desogus - Chitarra elettrica, Salvatore Turtas - Tastiere, Stefano Sanna - Basso elettrico and Simone Desogus - Batteria. They release a new album calles "Overture", the album is divided into six tracks, almost 60 minutes of a pure italian prog rock from new generation and the lyrics are in english and italian. Their musical influences are many, blending references from the classic Italian and British Progressice Rock.
PHARNAL
"Limbes"

Pharnal are a band from Lyon, France, and they make rock-prog with metal and jazz influences. Formed by Thibault Chevalier - Guitars, Thomas Buskulic - Guitars, Laëtitia Bertrand - Bass, Matthieu Dussaule - Piano and keyboards and Gillian Bayle - Drums. Their new record, "Limbes", is a 30 minutes instrumental piece, from witch they made a full-length clip that you can find on youtube and facebook.
THE ANCIENT VEIL
"New"

The Ancient Veil remastered" is the reissue of the first CD of the same name that in 1995 produced Mellow Records, the reference label for the Italian progressive of those years. "New", however, is not a simple reprint. This work stems from the desire to give new life to the first CD of Ancient Veil. We have therefore revised and redesigned both the audio aspect and the graphic part, improving the overall sound, adding new instruments, which for our current taste have completed the arrangements and given a more lively sound space to each single piece. Everything is richer and more complete, a sound space where the sound of the past with 24-tracks tape coexists in balance with the digital processing of the current software. The graphic part has been redesigned with paintings by Francesca Ghizzardi that recalls both the first season of the Eris Pluvia of "Rings of earthly light".
THE C:LIVE COLLECTIVE

"The Age of Insanity" The musical journey Clive Mitten (Twelfth Night) began in Reading in the 80's moves on to a new road. Taking the past of Prog, the present of D&B and the future - welcome. Amazing and different versions of great Twelfth Night hits. The collective is: Stephen Bennett - Keyboard0s, James Mann - Vocals, Clive Mitten - Basses, Guitars, Keyboards, To be announced - Guitars, Anna Stuttard Tempest - Vocals and Fudge Smith - Drums and Percussion. Together a mix of the finest musicians and artists. A mighty 6 piece.
LA BOTTEGA DEL TEMPO A VAPORE
"Viaggi Inversi"

La Bottega del Tempo a Vapore come back with second Album "Viaggi Inversi" that will be out on April 27, 2018 via Revalve Records. "Viaggi Inversi" is a concept album of 7 tracks which follows the tradition of Italian progressive rock. The plot of the story become, then, the main element. In the "Il Guerriero Errante" we spoke about a love story between a strong warrior of a King and the Lady, who should marry the Prince. In "Viaggi Inversi" we try to trace a temporal line from the future to our days, which includes events from our first work, detailed news about each character like the King, the Witch, and the Lady.
KINO
"Radio Voltaire"

Kino announced their return with release of their new album "Radio Voltaire", arriving 13 years after the band's much-loved debut "Picture" back in 2005. Due out on March 23rd, 2018, it sees John Mitchell (It Bites, Lonely Robot) & Pete Trewavas (Marillion) teaming up once more, with Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson) on drums & John Beck (It Bites) guesting on keyboards. The album will be available on Limited CD Digipak (including bonus tracks), Gatefold 180g Double Vinyl (incl. CD) & Digital Download. Digital pre-orders on iTunes and Amazon receive "The Dead Club" immediately. The album cover has been designed by Paul Tippett, who is one of the most in demand artists of the modern era. "I like what he's done with this sleeve. It reminds me of Moulin Rouge meets "Live And Let Die". It is very striking, and I am sure everyone will have their own interpretation of what it reminds them of."
NATHAN
"Era"

Born as a tribute band of Genesis, Pink Floyd and Supertramp, the Ligurian Nathan debuted on AMS Records with "Nebulosa" in 2016, a surprising album, the result of a real revolution within the band that led them to compose only original songs. But the group's inspiration has not been confined to the debut record, and "Era" is here to fully demonstrate that, a further step forward in comparison to the previous work. Nathan's official line-up, in addition to the main trio consisting of Piergiorgio Abba (keyboards), Bruno Lugaro (voice) and Fabio Sanfilippo (drums), now sees Mauro Brunzu as the official bass player, and once again makes of additional contributions by Monica Giovannini (choirs, backing vocals) and Daniele Ferro (guitars), the latter author in particular of beautiful solos that further enrich each song. The past is now behind, for Nathan a new "Era" begins!
LISA LARUE
"Origins"

Recently signed to Melodic Revolution Records, keybordist & composer Lisa LaRue is set to release her new album "Origins" in April 2018! A double album celebrating 25 years and 11 release by LaRue, "Origins" features some of the best musicians in the business: John Payne Asia, GPS), Michael Sadler (Saga), Mitch Perry (Talas, Aerosmith), Gilli Smyth (Gong), Don Schiff (Rocket Scientist, Kracked Earth), Federico Fantacone (Orchestre Celesti) John Baker (Forever Twelve, Mars Hollow) as well as Steve? COMING IN APRIL from Melodic Revolution Records.
LA DOTTRINA DEGLI OPPOSTI
"Arrivederci sogni"

La Dottrina degli Opposti is a creative project by the Genoese musician Andrea Lotti, composer and author of the pieces, as well as the founder of the La Coscienza di Zeno group. The ensemble formed for the realization of the project sees the participation of more than thirty elements, including members from different progressive formations already established in the sector, such as La Conscienza di Zeno and the Tempio delle Clessidre, and the orchestra of the G.F. Ghedini from Cuneo. Most of the arrangements are also performed by the orchestra and the taste of the album definitely refers some episodes of the great classics of Italian progressive rock of the 70s. The melodies and pastel shades of the timbres make the mood of the album very smooth, dreamy, a new episode of symphonic prog that continues in the wake of the great tradition of Italian symphonic prog. The common thread that links the various themes of the album is the transition from adolescence to adulthood, enchantment and disenchantment, dream and awakening, hence the title Arrivederci Sogni.
MILE MARKER ZERO
"The 5th Row"

Connecticut-based prog rockers Mile Marker Zero have announced their sophomore full-length concept album, The Fifth Row, scheduled for release on March 2nd. Consisting of 15 tracks which brilliantly showcase the band's melodic hooks and unique arrangements, the record was self-recorded at the band's home studio before being sent for mastering via Andy Vandette (Rush, Devin Townsend). Vocalist Dave Alley revealed the concept behind the album stating, "The Fifth Row, is a reference to the legend of "rice and the chessboard" and is frequently used by futurists as a way to show exponential growth in technology. As a society, humanity is currently in the "fifth row" of the chessboard, a time which changes in technology happen so fast that they are almost impossible to accurately forecast or predict. The role of artificial intelligence and technology in our lives is a pretty hot topic right now.
ARENA
"Double Vision"

1995 is the year it all begins. The first album of Arena was released, featuring Clive Nolan (keyboards) and Mick Pointer (drums), with Cliff Orsi (bass), Keith More (guitar) and John Carson (vocals). This excellent piece of work entitled Songs From The Lions Cage and released on Arena's own "Verglas" label, is very well received and a new progressive rock legend has been born. A very few critics react by saying that Arena clearly reflects shades of a Fish-era-Marillion, with Mick (ex-Marillion) on drums and a vocalist whose voice resembles elements of Fish's voice. However, the music is vibrant and fresh, and the album contains instant classics like Jericho, the epic Solomon and the emotional Crying For Help IV. Typical for the album are the short instrumental interludes (the Crying For Help-series) that separate the non-instrumental tracks: a format that returns on their next album.
SPOCK'S BEARD
"Noise Floor"

Legendary US progressive rockers Spock's Beard have announced the release of their 13th studio album "Noise Floor" for May 25th, 2018. As announced previously, for this album Ted Leonard, Alan Morse, Dave Meros & Ryo Okumoto are joined in the studio once again by drummer & original member Nick D'Virgilio. Spock's Beard is a band that is in a continual state of evolution, as is always the case with genuinely creative musicians. And their new album, "Noise Floor", fits perfectly into this process. "We are always about evolution, not revolution. But what we have done this time is make the songs more melodic," believes vocalist/guitarist Ted Leonard. "We still love our crazy prog, but now appreciate how important it is to grab people's attention early on."
FREQUENCY DRIFT
"Letters to Maro"

Formed in Bayreuth, Germany by classically trained keyboard player and multi-instrumentalist Andreas Hack, the band released their debut, Personal Effects Pt. 1, in 2008 via Musea. The conceptual work about the tragic story of two sisters in a futuristic setting was inspired by films like Bladerunner and Ghost in a Shell. The follow-up album, Personal Effects Pt. 2 was released by Cyclops in 2009 and once more showcased Frequency Drift's talent for powerful, soulful melodies and atmosphere. Frequency Drift's latest album Letters to Maro, featuring new singer and lyricist Irini Alexia, will be released on 13 April 2018 via Gentle Art of Music/Soulfood.
ÜMIT!
"The Testament of Ümit!"

Ümit! is a trio from Dusseldorf, Germany. Besides gloomy, but also viscous heavy tracks that sometimes feature vocals by Mr. Oberlack himself, the band has main, far more relaxed face. Instrumental pieces, which are sometimes reminiscent of Pink Floyd, slightly progressive and/or psychedelic. Ümit! is also found of Space Rock. The Music is influenced by progressive Music from the Seventies. They prefer the relaxed, not craftmanship-driven side of Prog. Musical DNA: Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Alan Parsons Project, Camel, Aphrodite's Child, Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre. Supported by the guitar of Jochen Oberlack, the grooves are always stoic, while atmospherically dense soundscapes often in contrast with Jochens lead instrument.
WEEND'Ô
"Time Of Awakening"

Weend'ô explores the depths of the human psyche: its qualities and faults, its fears and joy, its relationships? The lyrics are written from real experiences and through melodic progressive rock, the audience is invited to a journey from the inside. Whether incisive or sensitive, Weend'ô "speak" to our hearts and our souls. Time of Awakening is a call to humanity to keep faith and hope despite the appalling events currently afflicting the world. The band believe that we are entering a new period in our evolution, and that we are experiencing frequencies that are creating a new paradigm even though the events of 2017 - like devastating earthquakes - have been disastrous for individual communities. They discuss this in the hymn "Elea" and from a more personal point of view in the song "Angel Dust". All is one - both the visible and invisible worlds. Nothing can stop the true evolution...
LA COSCIENZA DI ZENO
"Il Giro del Cappio" - Dal vivo 26.02.2016

About ten years from the now distant 2007, when the first foundations of this project were laid, one of the current Italian progressive rock scene most important bands, La Coscienza di Zeno, signs for AMS Records; while waiting to give life to their 4th record, they celebrate this event with the release of "Il giro del cappio", a live album recorded on 26 February 2016 in The Netherlands. "Il giro del cappio" consists of seven long and complex tracks for over seventy minutes of music in which, from classical to hard rock, various genres overlap and intertwine with impressive and apparent simplicity. Almost one third of the album is occupied by the suite "Giovane figlia", what could be called the "Side A" of the band's third album "La notte anche di giorno"; four are the tracks taken from the eponymous 2011 debut, while the concert is opened and closed with two songs from "Sensitività" (2013).
REALE ACCADEMIA DI MUSICA
"Angeli Mutanti"

There is certainly the experience of their creative roots arising from the prog music of the '70s. There is the research for the singer-songwriting skill, typical of those years. There are the avant-garde arrangements with sweet and engaged poetics. No doubt there is all of that in the 10 songs of the new album of the Reale Accademia Di Musica. Two excellent "designers of their instruments" like Pericle Sponzilli and Fabio Liberatori, can not but weave refined sound textures and embroider beautiful melodies for a work that takes us into a current future, along with the beautiful voice of Erika Savastani and the precise rhythm of Andy Bartolucci (on drums) and Fabio Frascini (on bass).
MARCO RAGNI
"The Wandering Caravan"

Marco Ragni's musical history dates back to 1975, when, at the age of 6, he discovers his passion for music by asking for a Farfisa keyboard as present. The love of singing comes only later, fascinated by the vocal harmonies of the Fab Four, the legendary Beatles. At the age of 17, attracted by the California hippie scene of the late sixties and the sound of Pink Floyd and all progressive rock of 70s, he recorded his first tracks of psychedelic music, and his early records, including "Kaleido"(1987) and "Illumination"(1988). In 1990 he joined the band Deshuesada, which will deeply mark his artistic evolution, leading to the recording of 2 albums of psychedelic pop and to several gigs in Italy from 1992 to 1998. After a couple of years as a soloist, albeit  without significant productions, in 2000  he was approached by a rock band, the Quartafila, which later changed its name to Heza.
MARCO DE ANGELIS
"Next Station"

Marco De Angelis is an Italian solo artist, songwriter, musician, audio engineer and record producer. Since that day he gained a wide experience in musical instruments field, from acoustic/ethno to last generation electronic gear. He is one of the few Italian Chapman Stick player. Plays guitar, bass and keyboards. Even if he enjoys a wide range of musical styles, his main roots are from the late '60s and '70s prog-rock UK scene. Created soundtracks for 3rd parties as well as his own original projects. Arranger and artistic producer for a multitude of indie albums released in Italy, UK and Latin America. Meanwhile, spent almost two decades working as freelance Sound Engineer/Producer for some of the most important production companies in Italy.

ZOMBIE PICNIC
"Rise of a New Ideology"

Zombie Picnic is a four-piece, prog/post-rock instrumental band from Limerick, Ireland. Formed in the summer of 2012 by Jim Griffin (guitar), Dave Tobin (guitar), Brian Fitzgerald (bass) and Brendan Miller (drums), they released their debut album A Suburb of Earth in May 2016 which was met with positive reviews and received airplay worldwide. After their 2016 debut album "A Suburb of Earth", Zombie Picnic are back with their sophomore album, Rise of a New Ideology, released on their own label Golden Shred Records and distributed by UK-based progressive music specialists Burning Shed. MOTHER TURTLE
"Zea Mice"

Formed in 2011, in Thessaloniki, Greece, Mother Turtle started as a jam band. In those jam sessions, some solid musical ideas were developed and after a lot of rehearsing evolved into songs. Mother Turtle have completed their songwriting and recording sessions for their first ever release and now they are proud to present you their self released and self titled debut album. Influenced by the great artists of the genre, Mother Turtle try to adapt the different elements of prog rock into their own music, taking advantage of the artistic freedom that progressive music provides. Enjoy the album and praise The Mother Turtle!!!
MALADY
"Toinen Toista"

Finland has a long-standing tradition of atmospheric, quirky progressive rock, from genre forefathers like Wigwam, Magyar, and Tasavallan Presidentti to modern-day stalwarts such as Sammal and Liekki. Svart Records is proud to present the latest link in the chain: Malady. When Malady was founded in Helsinki by a bunch of twenty-somethings in 2010, the band members had one goal: to create one album before turning 50. This attitude for making music describes the band quite well. Music is all that matters; stardom is secondary. Even though the band are deeply into the retro aesthetic, and building the album with the right kind of sounds took plenty of effort, the music is not just about being vintage. The storytelling mood of the meandering songs is supported by an analog soundscape. Malady?s music is, at the same time, subtle and substantial.
IL SIGILLO DI HORUS
"Effimera"

In early 70s Diego Bertone and Beppe Aleo met Angelo Godone and soon started to play covers of Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull, The Trip, Procol Harum, Deep Purple. In 1973 guitar player Maurizio Barbarisi joined the band and together created Il Sigillo di Horus project with their own compositions. They composed Effimera and Venti Passi but an important member still missed? a vocalist, and they thought about a female voice. Local well known vocalist Ivana Costi, usually sing commercial music is immediately involved in the band and sing with great feeling the songs more intricated of Il Sigillo di Horus. In 1975 the band won a RAI contest and appeared in a TV Show "Piccola Ribalta"; they published a 7 inch with 2 tracks and later SAAR proposed to record Effimera and Venti Passi in order to make later a complete album. The two tracks were recorded stereo with no overdubs, only Ivana Costi recorded her voices later separately. This album is a little treasure, an important testimony of the historical period of Italian Progressive, rediscovered today, for all fans of the best italian Prog tradition as Circus 2000, Le Orme, Analogy. Do not miss it!
ASTRONAUTA MARINHO
"Perspecta"

Astronauta Marinho is an instrumental/indie band formed in 2011 in Fortaleza, Brazil. Since then composing and performing music essentially instrumental have been the guiding principle of their work. Based on their own surroundings and personal experiences, the band has found their own way to carefully illustrate their perspective of daily life. Influenced by the city of Fortaleza and its colors, its streets and its sounds, the apartment rooms and the bohemian night permeate the production of the band dialoguing with the set produced. However, the focus of the group for the present instrumental music is not always stringent. There are openings for experimental songs, electronic bases and clippings to verbal interfaces. The work of Astronauta Marinho is mainly a bet on opening the creative collaboration between artist and audience, and enable the ability to take their own meaning, comprehensively, of the songs and the group's work.
